Having expectations at the beginning of buying or selling will avoid any issues in the future. Both sellers and buyers share the same expectations but also have separate ones that I will discuss below.
From a seller’s side you should expect the following from your Realtor:
- Someone who values your home
- A very detailed CMA to get the best price for your home
- Someone who is an expert on advertising
- Someone who coordinate showings/open houses
- Strong motivation to sell your home
From a buyer’s side you should expect the following from your Realtor:
- Someone who recommends vendors like interior designers, handymen, etc.
- Manages inspections
- Scheduling showings/open houses
- Lending knowledge
Both sellers and buyers should expect the following from their Realtor:
- Consistent communication
- Qualified and experienced
- Strong negotiation skills
- Has your best interest at heart
- Trustworthy
- Professionalism
- Availability
- Someone who ensures you understand everything in the entire process. For example: commissions and required documents.
